Bali: A Paradise for Surfers

The best places are Kuta beach and Uluwatu. Kuta is by far the most famous surfing beach in Bali. There are numerous spots along the Kuta Legian strip offering great waves. Depending on the season, these can be large or small but are usually surfable. There are some powerful rips around. Uluwatu is less crowded. In the shadow of one of Bali's holiest temples located atop sixty meter high limestone cliffs, Uluwatu is not only a magnificent sight but also one of the most challenging surfing beaches in the world. As a rule, the waves are very big and break into the reef and require a lot of skill and competence.
All along the perimeter of the Bukit, southern Bali's highland peninsula, there are a number of great beaches frequented by surfers formerly very isolated, beaches like Dreamland and Padang Padang are now easily accessible.
Don’t forget to try another paradise for surfing in Bali is Nusa Dua located on the south-eastern tip of the island, the Nusa Dua peninsula has some nice reef that provides good waves for surfing. You can stay on any of the most sumptuous hotels in the world spread around the area, and surfing is readily available within walking distance, from a beginner's level to a challenging one for the serious surfers. Let’s surf in paradise.

You can stay in selection of high quality hotels, villas, traditional Balinese bungalow villas and modern contemporary villas. Many of these have infinity pools, luscious natural spas and all luxury services one may expect from the southern more tourist populated areas. These are well spaced out along the long sea front with very large grounds and gardens that further the secluded feel. There are also a few budget places although surprisingly it can be difficult to barter to the prices you can easily get in Kuta. There is also the presence of specific diving resorts in this area and listed on this site.
The resorts here generally have very cozy restaurants offering exceptional cuisine from around the world and Bali’s famous breathtaking BBQ fish and seafood with delicate salads and side dishes often served on the beach front, by the pool or on terrace balconies but always somewhere with an amazing view.

Lombok: Sister of Bali

The Lombok Island is well-known as a sister of Bali. The island of Lombok is located east of Bali and can be easily accessed by air or by sea. Lombok island sweeps across the richest tropical waters in the world and vast expanse of ocean on one of the world's most volatile volcanic belts, diving in Lombok and beyond is a new and fresh around wild marine experience for all.
It is waiting for you to be discovered. Imagine; you are in new gorgeous underwater world that no one has been explored, that is Lombok Island wild dive about. Once you did, you will be glad what you did. Submerged, immaculate marine coliseums await the avid diver, the myriad fish and invertebrates that shelters among and encrust the rugged surface provided by the clumps, shelves and branches of corals are overwhelming in their numbers, shapes and colours.
Imagine you are in the middle of virgin beaches and pristine of Indiana Ocean water and add with the wild marine lives of southern Lombok Sea that shows you the breathtaking of nature and lives.
If you have the opportunity to visit Lombok island don’t forget to visit Rinjani National Park, and the tree Gillis island. The park covers an area of 41,330 ha on the northern part of Lombok. Named after Indonesia’s second highest volcanic peak outside of West Papua, the peak of Gunung Rinjani (3,726m) dominates the landscape. Within the crater are the spectacular Segara Anak Lake and the still-active volcano Gunung Baru (2,363m).
It is surrounded by a further 66,000 ha of Protection Forest and covers the three administrative district of West, East and Central Lombok. The park ecosystem is in the transitional zone between Asia and Australia (Wallace zone). Average rainfall is about 3,000 mm annually.
Gunung Rinjani is rich in a variety of flora, fauna and vegetation types. On the south western side of the mountain is the most eastern extent of primary rainforest in Nusa Tenggara.
The three Gili Islands are a small-scale backpacker Mecca and Lombok's most popular tourist destination. The islands are very relaxed and laid-back, with countless little beachside cafes playing reggae and serving up banana pancakes, and no cars or motorbikes to disturb the peace. The flip side of the coin is that as they exist solely to cater for travellers, they're also rather anonymous (you might as well be at anywhere) and, aside from snorkelling and diving, there's little if anything to do. Note that there are no ATMs on the islands, so bring plenty of cash with you. From west to east, the islands are:
Gili Trawangan, by far the most developed with plenty of backpacker options and one swanky resort
Gili Meno, the smallest and quietest, low-key with some simple places to stay
Gili Air, closest to the mainland and with the largest local population
Strictly speaking, the name "Gili Islands" is rather redundant as gili simply means "small island" in Sasak, but the name has stuck and is universally used and understood in Lombok.
